Emerson Earns Distinguished ENERGY STAR® Certification for Sensi Thermostats
Sensi smart thermostat helps homeowners save about 23 percent on HVAC energy consumption
ST. LOUIS (Nov. 14, 2018) – Emerson (NYSE: EMR), a leader in the thermostat and HVAC controls industry, today announced its top-rated Sensi™ smart thermostats have received the ENERGY STAR® certification, an official endorsement of the products’ energy-saving and cost-efficient benefits for consumers.
ENERGY STAR, a joint program between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Energy, is a widely recognized energy-savings certification based on real-world data and user interaction with the product.
Both the Sensi™ Touch Wi-Fi® Thermostat and Sensi™ Wi-Fi® Thermostat can save users about 23 percent of HVAC energy consumption, by adjusting the temperature using flexible scheduling, remote access and geofencing*. Many customers can also enhance cost savings with rebates offered through utility and energy companies, which may require a thermostat to be ENERGY STAR certified.
“Comfort and energy efficiency are important topics for homeowners, and the HVAC system plays a vital role in both,” said Bob Sharp, executive president of Emerson Commercial & Residential Solutions. “Up to half of a home energy bill can be driven by heating and cooling, and factors such as temperature, humidity and air movement are key elements for comfort. With our new Sensi capabilities, including the ENERGY STAR certification, we’re proud to play a role in helping customers realize significant benefits in both areas.”
Sensi thermostat users have additional options to increase the energy efficiency of their HVAC systems. Using the circulating fan feature, customers can program the fan to move air even when the system is not running, which helps improve air quality in homes and enhances energy savings.
Sensi thermostats also provide seamless comfort and convenient control to homes and families using mobile device apps and smart home platforms such as Amazon Alexa, the Google Assistant, Apple HomeKit™ and Wink. Users can receive up-to-date usage reports via email to track their HVAC energy consumption – a new feature that helps users design their ideal home comfort experience.
The Sensi Touch Wi-Fi Thermostat – named the “Best Smart Thermostat” by USA Today’s Reviewed.com two years in a row – along with the Sensi Wi-Fi Thermostat (twice named “Best Value Smart Thermostat” by Reviewed.com) offer best-in-class installation for homeowners and contractors through the Sensi smartphone app. By empowering customers to choose between the geofencing proximity detection feature or the flexible scheduling options, Sensi thermostats can achieve energy savings without compromising comfort.
Sensi smart thermostats are available at retail stores, online marketplaces, through HVAC contractors and at Sensi.Emerson.com.
